Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott is currently in Asia, leading a delegation to expand trade talks in the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis delegation has presented many unique opportunities to strengthen Australia\u2019s trade relationship with government and business,\u201d Mr Scott said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur producers are creative, innovative and hungry to break into new international markets and I\u2019ll do all I can to promote our region.”<\/p>\n

Mr Scott said the Federal Government was “assertively pursuing trade and investment as key growth drivers” by building the relationship between Australia and the region to our north.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s exciting to see all the opportunities, existing and new, and it\u2019s very rewarding to see our products beyond Australian shores,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Scott will also be visiting the largest international food tradeshow in Asia, the Food and Hotel Asia 2014 Expo in Singapore, to promote Australian produce.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost 42,000 people are set to attend the expo and I\u2019m keen to promote the Maranoa on the international stage when I address a Meat and Livestock Australia function later this week,\u201d Mr Scott said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake the beef industry as an example. The beef industry is a significant local employer with almost a quarter of Queensland\u2019s beef enterprises located in the Maranoa with the Roma Saleyards \u2013 Australia\u2019s largest cattle selling centre \u2013 playing an important strategic role.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s vital to keep this industry moving. It supports numerous transport companies, musterers and local businesses whose livelihoods depend on the beef industry.<\/p>\n
