An intersection and pedestrian crossing which have been identified by local police as one of the most dangerous in Kingaroy looks set to have an upgrade to improve safety.<\/p>\n

Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, from Kingaroy Police, told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> in February that the corner of Glendon and Haly streets was difficult because there was traffic turning across traffic, poor visibility and the camber of the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrivers turning right out of Glendon Street are looking left and then suddenly they are on the pedestrian crossing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

There have been a number of incidents at the crossing, including in December when a 30-year-old Kingaroy woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries after she was knocked down. A 63-year-old man was later charged with driving without due care and attention.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said today that after listening to community concerns, she had gone to the Department requesting a more thorough safety audit and review of the pedestrian crossing\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing the accident on the crossing in December last year, and hearing several other near-miss stories, I decided something needed to be done,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n
