Round 2 of the Evolution Solar South Burnett football competition was completed on Tuesday evening in Kingaroy with the 1st Division match between Gunners and Nanango.<\/p>\n

This was the first time the teams have met since last year\u2019s 1st Division Grand Final.<\/p>\n

While Nanango have had a reasonably stable squad, Gunners have had to rebuild after losing many players in the off season.<\/p>\n

The match started out fairly evenly, but it was Nanango that produced the more attacking play while Gunners defended defiantly.<\/p>\n

The first half\u00a0 produced the best football seen so far this season. While Nanango launched many attacks, the Gunners’ defence held and on many occasions broke out quickly into a counter attack.<\/p>\n

At half-time the scores were locked at nil-all.<\/p>\n

Nanango came close to scoring in the 50th<\/sup> minute when a Kieran Askin missile was tipped over the crossbar by Gunners’ keeper Hayden Mashford.<\/p>\n

Five minutes later Askin had another shot and again the Gunners’ keeper denied him.<\/p>\n

However from the ensuing corner kick, Kyron Tunstall made no mistake to give Nanango the lead.<\/p>\n

The goal opened the game up and both teams chanced their arm.<\/p>\n

In the 67th<\/sup> minute, straight after coming on as a substitute, Damien Corson doubled Nanango\u2019s lead, scoring off a corner kick.<\/p>\n

Gunners never let their heads drop and continued to launch counter attacks, but Jeff Frohloff held and his defence was not really troubled too much.<\/p>\n

There is no denying Nanango will be hard to beat this season.<\/p>\n

Kieran Askin and Kieran Mangan were strong in the midfield and Jeff Frohloff in defence.<\/p>\n

Hayden Mashford had a brilliant game in goal and the score could have been a lot worse for Gunners if not for his brave display between the sticks.<\/p>\n

Mitch Potter and Darren Moseling had strong games, particularly in the first half keeping Nanango scoreless.<\/p>\n

Nanango 2 (Kyron Tunstall 57th<\/sup>, Damien Corson 67th<\/sup>) defeated Gunners 0.<\/p>\n
