Nanango SES is about to get a new HQ, thanks to a grant from the State Government and assistance from the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington announced today that the government would be putting in $50,000 towards the project.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council will be contributing $80,000 plus supplying the land where the shed will be built.<\/p>\n

The current Nanango SES headquarters is located in George Street.<\/p>\n

The new building – a 21m x 12m air-conditioned shed – will be erected on vacant land between the Nanango Cemetery and the Nanango Netball Courts on the Nanango-Brooklands Road.<\/p>\n

SES Controller for the South Burnett Regional Council Southern Unit, Arthur Dawson, said the new purpose-built shed would include a training area, kitchen and enough storage room for the group’s two vehicles, flood boat, trailer and other equipment.<\/p>\n

The storage area will replace a dilapidated shed at the rear of the current SES building which has termite damage and dry rot which council plans to demolish.<\/p>\n

The Nanango SES unit currently has between 15 and 20 members.<\/p>\n

Mr Dawson said construction of the new shed was awaiting ratification of some applications but he hoped the shed would be completed before June 30.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said it was wonderful that the State Government and the Council were working together to help the SES.<\/p>\n
