The ladies from Kumbia QCWA celebrated the 90th birthday of the branch with a high tea on the lawns behind their restrooms on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Former members travelled from afar for the occasion and to share some special birthday cupcakes.<\/p>\n

Blue and white – the QCWA colours – were in abundance, ranging from the signs on the water tank (“Sweeten Your Day With the Kumbia QCWA”) to the icing on the cakes.<\/p>\n

The Kumbia QCWA branch was established in 1924\u00a0 just two years after the birth of the Queensland Country Women’s Association in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

The restrooms in the main street of Kumbia were erected in 1953 and have been used by many different community groups over the years.<\/p>\n

Longest serving Kumbia members are Anne Beil and Joyce Dickenson, who have both clocked up 33 years. They were presented with special certificates on Saturday to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n

South Burnett QCWA Division secretary Mollie Kratzmann, another Kumbia member, was also presented with a special pin by Divisional President Lois Daniels to recognise her work with the group.<\/p>\n
