Yeppoon golfer Kodi Louis outclassed his rivals with a final round 66 to claim the 2014 Queensland Indigenous Championship at Murgon Golf Club on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Louis and Craig Dodd (Blackwater) went into the final round locked on 3-under, however after nine holes, Louis had jumped out to a 2-shot lead.<\/p>\n

A costly bogey on the 14th put pay to any final charge by Dodd and despite a nervous 3 putt bogey on the penultimate hole, Louis closed out in style with a birdie 3 on the 72nd.<\/p>\n

First of the local golfers home was Shane Bird, from Wondai club, who finished third on a gross of 215.<\/p>\n

Murgon golfer Max Conlon – father of Marley who was honoured with the inaugural Marley Conlon Reconciliation Memorial Shield on Friday – was the Senior Nett champion with a gross of 266.<\/p>\n

It was Louis’ first trip to Murgon for the championships but it won’t be his last as he told Golf Queensland he was already planning his 2015 trip because of the warm welcome he had received.<\/p>\n

By winning the championship, Louis has also earned a place in the Isuzu Queensland Open Pro Am to be held at Brookwater Golf and Country Club later this year.<\/p>\n

Joining Louis in the Pro Am will be overall Nett winner Dodd.<\/p>\n

Playing off a handicap of 5, Dodd finished an impressive 18 under for the weekend.<\/p>\n

A field of three contested the Women’s Division with Kimberley Crawley (Horton Park) claiming the win after rounds of 81, 77 and 72.<\/p>\n

Runner up was Ashleigh Hay (Burleigh), with Regina Hussey (Rowes Bay) returning the best nett score.<\/p>\n
