Returning Officer Chatur Zala and Assistant Returning Officer Edwina Stewart at the Candidates’ Draw this morning<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

March 21, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arnold Murray today drew the No 1 spot on the ballot paper for the by-election to fill a vacancy at Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council.<\/p>\n

The official draw for ballot positions was conducted by Returning Officer Zala Chatur at the Cherbourg Shire Council Office in Cherbourg this morning.<\/p>\n

Three of the five nominated candidates attended the draw.<\/p>\n

The order that will appear on Ballot papers will be:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Arnold Murray
\n2. Vinnie Conlon
\n3. Ashley Lyle Hill
\n4. Tom Langton
\n5. J. Emma Stewart<\/p>\n

The election will be held on Saturday, April 12, although pre-poll voting will be available at the Cherbourg Shire Council office from March 31 to April 11.<\/p>\n

Voting is compulsory.<\/p>\n

Applications<\/a><\/strong> for postal votes close at 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 9.<\/p>\n

The vacancy on the Council was caused by the death of Cr Bert Button last month.<\/p>\n
