Four Kingaroy State High School students gave beautician Brooke Stead a workout when they decided to get their legs waxed for charity<\/figcaption><\/figure>March 20, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

When it came to The World\u2019s Greatest Shave, four Kingaroy boys decided shaving their heads wasn\u2019t going far enough. <\/p>\n

The innovative lads decided they would raise more money if they chose to wax their legs instead.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy State High School Year 11 students Aidan Penfound, 16, Ryan Nicholson, 15, Arie Cooper, 16 and Riley Hutfield, 16, came up with the plan when they decided to join the school\u2019s annual participation in the Leukaemia Foundation\u2019s Shave For A Cure.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year I shaved my head, but this year I wanted to do something different,\u201d Aidan explained. <\/p>\n

Ryan said the teenagers decided on removing hair from their legs because they were so hairy \u2013 particularly his! <\/p>\n

\u201cShaving it off was too easy,\u201d he said. \u201cWe thought we\u2019d get more money if we did something that would hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n

The boys had two weeks to gather sponsorship, mostly from school friends, with many female students warning it would be painful. <\/p>\n

Local hairdresser and beautician Brooke Stead took on the mammoth waxing job, donating her time and wax strips to the cause. <\/p>\n

While it was not the first time she has waxed a male\u2019s legs, it was the first time she had done the job on teenagers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were very brave and never gave up, even though there was a lot of sweat from the pain,\u201d Mrs Stead said.<\/p>\n

The session took four hours, Mrs Stead\u2019s longest session ever. \u201cMy arms and shoulders were sore the next day, because the boys\u2019 legs were so hairy,\u201d she said. \u201cIt gave me a workout.\u201d<\/p>\n

The boys admit the session was more painful than they imagined, and a lot of screaming, squealing and sweating went on. They recorded it and posted it on social media throughout the process so that friends, family and sponsors could share the moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really hurt, but we\u2019d do it again; it\u2019s for a good cause,\u201d Aidan said.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy State School maths department head and World\u2019s Biggest Shave co-ordinator, Brett Jones, says students raise money every year for the Leukaemia Foundation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, we had eight kids shave their heads; two girls and six boys,\u201d Mr Jones said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOther students got involved by colouring their hair for a gold coin donation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The children have collectively raised more than $1000 so far, but money is still coming in and the final tally is expected to be much higher.<\/p>\n
