The first round of the Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund was unable to give away all the $10,000 it had allocated to Junior Sport because of a lack of suitable applications.<\/p>\n

The shortfall was disclosed in a report tabled at the Council’s monthly meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Successful Round 1 applicants were:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • South Burnett Saints AFC Inc – $1500 to develop indigenous AFL footballers<\/li>\n
  • Nanango Rugby League Football Club Inc – $2000 for “Get Fit 2014”<\/li>\n
  • South Burnett Junior Rugby League – $2280 for the “School Rugby League Blitz” program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    A fourth application from the Kingaroy Wondai Proston Tick Eradication Committee for $10,000 to secure the Tick Boundary at Brigooda was turned down because it failed to meet the funding round’s criteria.<\/p>\n

    However, the unspent money will now be rolled into the grant program’s second round.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This will focus on Mental Health, and grants will be given to projects that deliver a meaningful outcome to the South Burnett community and which don’t receive support from other recognised channels.<\/p>\n

    Applications for Round 2 grants will open on Monday, March 31; close on Friday, April 29; and be assessed on Wednesday, May 7 at a breakfast meeting commencing at 8:00am.<\/p>\n
