You weren’t imagining it … there have been a lot more South Burnett citizens wearing green – and funny hats – around the place in the past few days than you’d normally see in the area.<\/p>\n

March 17, of course, is St Patrick’s Day, when everyone – no matter their cultural background – seems to be at least a little bit Irish.<\/p>\n

Popular events were organised in Kingaroy and Kumbia over the past few days.<\/p>\n

At Kingaroy RSL<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kingaroy RSL Club marked St Patrick’s Day with a special night of “Leprechauns, Laughter and Music” in the Tobruk Room on Friday night. There was also green beer (and interestingly dressed staff members) at the Long Tan Bar.<\/p>\n

At St Mary’s Catholic College<\/strong><\/h3>\n

St Mary’s Catholic College’s junior school students in Kingaroy enjoyed a special St Patrick’s Day parade on Monday morning in the Maryknoll Centre.<\/p>\n

Each class showed off their St Paddy’s day hats and constumes, and then competed on stage to show off their best Irish dancing moves.<\/p>\n

At St Mary’s Catholic Parish<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Recently appointed parish priest Fr Nigel Sequeira led the St Patrick’s Day celebrations at the Kingaroy Catholic Parish.<\/p>\n

After celebrating a special Mass on Monday evening, the community adjourned to the parish hall for a night of food, fun and music.<\/p>\n

The Kumbia Catholic Ladies hosted an afternoon of Irish fun, raffles, live music and afternoon tea at the Kumbia Memorial Hall on Sunday.<\/p>\n
