Three St Mary\u2019s Catholic College students return to their former primary school every Wednesday to become Cherbourg Junior Police Rangers.<\/p>\n

Ky-Ky Warner, Hayden Boney and Anquon Sandow leave their Year 8 classes in Kingaroy and travel 45 minutes to take part in the program at St Joseph\u2019s, Murgon.<\/p>\n

They are now the Rangers’ first senior leaders.<\/p>\n

The trio joined the group when it formed in 2011 and their parents wanted them to continue when they went to secondary school.<\/p>\n

They now do skills and drills on a weekly basis with a cohort of about 20 children.<\/p>\n

Over the years they have also taken part in Anzac Day marches and weekend rewards events at Stradbroke Island, Australia Zoo, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast\u2019s Underwater World, and at the Goomeri and Murgon pools.<\/p>\n

Great school attendance is a must for all Cherbourg Junior Police Rangers and co-ordinator Louise Thompson said the program was terrific for a child\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt teaches discipline, self-respect and respect for others and the community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ky-Ky now wants to be a police officer so she can \u201chelp lots of kids\u201d and \u201cit seems like it\u2019d be a fun job\u201d.<\/p>\n

Anquon wants to be an artist and Hayden is still thinking about his career.<\/p>\n

Perhaps Cherbourg Junior Police Rangers\u2019 activities will help him come to a decision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
