Latvian-born artist Luby Lorens (aka Mimoz) has filled the Front Gallery with her intricately drawn pin-pencil and water paint works<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Wondai Regional Art Gallery launched its second exhibition of the year on Friday night with works from three different artists filling its three main galleries.<\/p>\n

The Front Gallery features pin-pencil and water paint images from Latvian-born artist Luby Lorens, who draws and paints under the name “Mimoz”.<\/p>\n

Luby said that she tries to combine images that she sees with her inner vision, then puts them together – either to create a story in drawings, or just to “photograph the fragment”.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Alison Iszlaub Gallery is covered with artworks by well-known Kingaroy artist Deidre Amos.<\/p>\n

Deidre’s exhibition features works in oils, acrylics, inks and watercolours that span several decades of her output.<\/p>\n

To add extra spice to the exhibition, one of her works will be given away free at the end of the month and three more have been put up for a silent auction.<\/p>\n

All gallery visitors need to do to be in the running for them is fill in paper slips and put them in specially marked boxes at the gallery before March 31.<\/p>\n

Artworks and sculptures by Childers artist Gail Stever fill the Rear Gallery.<\/p>\n

Gail is a member of the Childers Visual Art Group and this month’s exhibition is her first solo outing.<\/p>\n

A crowd of about 50 attended Friday’s opening, talking to the artists, tasting wines from the Wondai Hotel and Cellar, enjoying the hot and cold finger foods prepared by the gallery’s volunteers and being entertained by live music from Katie Eckersall, who performed in the pergola area with her electric ukulele.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was officially opened by former Wondai Art Gallery curator Alison Iszlaub, who congratulated the three artists on producing a very stimulating show.<\/p>\n

Alison also complimented students from St Joseph’s School in Murgon, whose works are on display in Kidz Korner this month, on their great effort.<\/p>\n
