A large grass fire which broke out about 1:15pm in windy conditions on the outskirts of Murgon has blackened most of the Angelfield airstrip but fire crews have protected buildings in the area.<\/p>\n

The PCYC’s remote control car club track is also believed to have escaped damage although the flames came very close.<\/p>\n

Ten fire crews – including urban and rural units – are currently mopping up grassland in the Macalister and McLucas street area.<\/p>\n

An area of about 50ha had been burned out by 2:30pm.<\/p>\n
