And this week it continued so long that the South Burnett was drought-declared.<\/p>\n<p>But that hasn&#8217;t stopped keen bowlers getting out on the greens.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, a number of clubs are now well under way with their club championships.<\/p>\n<p>So let\u2019s start with Kingaroy &#8211; there are a number of interesting stories from there:<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Kingaroy news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Saturday Kingaroy held the fifth and final round of their popular Madcap Medley.<\/p>\n<p>There was prize money up for grabs on this keenly fought day, with five teams within 2 points of the lead.<\/p>\n<p>The format for the day was two games of 12 ends in Singles with one point for each win; then two games of 9 end Triples; and finally one game of 9 end rinks, with two points for a win.<\/p>\n<p>Results were interesting&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ali Barber 3 drew Pinnups 3<\/li>\n<li>The Vets 3 drew Golden Oldies 3<\/li>\n<li>Bedazzled 5 def Who&#8217;s Carrying Who 1<\/li>\n<li>Whatever 6 def Semi Young 0<\/li>\n<li>Swamp Critters 4 def Flintstones 2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The final standings were a bit of a boilover:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st: Whatever &#8211; 21 pts<\/li>\n<li>2nd: Flintstones &#8211; 18 pts<\/li>\n<li>3rd: Pinnup &#8211; 17 pts<\/li>\n<li>4th: Ali Barber &#8211; 16 pts<\/li>\n<li>5th: The Vets &#8211; 15 pts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then on Sunday in Triples and Pairs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Filipe Munoz, Ben Pratap and Glen Turner 25 def. Dave Woods, Eric Ford and Beryl Woods 13<\/li>\n<li>Robbie Johnson, Alan Irwin and Ray Maclaren 22 def. Marj Moore, Val Jeppesen and Malcolm Macleod 18<\/li>\n<li>Tony Perkins and Trevor Russ 15 def. Peter Taylor and Geoff Clutterbuck 14<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wednesday was Trophy Day, and in Fours where the largest winning margin determined the winners, the winners were Dave Woods, Des Richards, Annette O&#8217;Brien and Val Jeppesen with a margin of 9.<\/p>\n<p>Then on Thursday in Triples where the largest winning margin was used to determine winners, Dave Woods, Peter Neilsen and Alan Irwin came out trumps with a margin of 19.<\/p>\n<p>This competition also produced some very interesting scores:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dave Woods, Peter Neilsen and Alan Irwin 32 def. Maree Millard, Irene Smith and John Coppard 13<\/li>\n<li>Col McBride, Ross Olsson and Ray Maclaren 27 def. Darcy Munro, John Silvey and Ben Pratap 14<\/li>\n<li>Harry Read, Des Richards and Bruce Johnston 21 def. Filipe Munoz, Keith Kratzmann and Kev Raffin 18<\/li>\n<li>Keith Muller, Gladys Slatter and Richie Patterson 17 def. Marj Moore, Dave Clapperton and Bob Robinson 8<\/li>\n<li>Geoff Clutterbuck, Erris Vale and Beryl Woods 17 def. Barry O&#8217;Brien, Steve Carland and Col Kratzmann 12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are a big couple of days coming up at Kingaroy this week too: the Ladies Carnival on Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Kilcoy news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last weekend at Toogoolawah in the first round of the Webster Shield, Kilcoy won with an overall total of 182-108.<\/p>\n<p>The return match will be held at Kilcoy on 30 March.<\/p>\n<p>And in Club Championship games;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Singles: Bill Edwards def John Worrall 25-7. Greg Staniforth def Tony Gray 25-14. Noel Lanes def Leigh Irwin 25-10<\/li>\n<li>B Singles: Brett Kelly def Denis Bleakley 25-21; and Lester Bechly def Bert Christie 25-21.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In last Tuesday&#8217;s Ladies Day, there was a busy green with three championship matches played. In the Star of the Green contest, Sharon Walker defeated Jenny Edwards and plays Pauline Lawson next week.<\/p>\n<p>And in the Ladies Club social competition:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wendy Smith, Michael Dunn, Col Ferguson and Dennis Thomson defeated Maxine Parrington, Ernie Herbert, Brett Kelly and John Glanville 13-12<\/li>\n<li>Fay Vicary, Flora Kelly and Pam Taylor defeated Pauline Lawson, Liz Frawley and Ian Smith 19-12<\/li>\n<li>Kelly Charters, Sharon Walker and Jeff Welden defeated Terry Pratten, Jenny Edwards and Margaret Worrall 19-13<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next Saturday March 22 the club is holding Social Bowls with two games of 13 ends.<\/p>\n<p>The club is also playing quite a number of B Singles championships. Both Mens and Ladies were played on Thursday and I should have those results next week.<\/p>\n<p>And don&#8217;t forget that it&#8217;s Pub Day in Kilcoy on Wednesday &#8211; don&#8217;t miss that one!<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Yarraman news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two matches of the club championship Men\u2019s Fours were played last weekend:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brian Dugdell, Neil Johnston, George Wolski and John Moore def Neil Currell, Jim LeCocq, John Beattie and David Douglass 25-2<\/li>\n<li>Kerry Knowles, Kev Profke, Rob Douglass and Leo Robinson def Merv Fitch, Brian Profke, Horst Myer and Chris MacLeod 24-14<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The final of the Men&#8217;s Fours will be played next Saturday at 9:30am, and this match should attract a gallery.<\/p>\n<p>And in Wednesday&#8217;s Ladies Club social games:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ivy Wrembeck, Rita Young and Yvonne Schultz def Di Currell, Alison Anderson and Margaret Willoughby 10-4<\/li>\n<li>Lola Harper and Robyn Diercke def Eileen Elliott and Kay Dugdell 7-6<\/li>\n<li>Neil Currell, John Beattie and Roy Wrembeck def Horst Myer, Leo Robinson and Ron Lucas 23-20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Thursday night bowls with conditions of play 1 game over 18 ends, with 1 for an end and 2 for a win:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winners: George Wolski, Marge Clarke and Kerry Walsh def Brian Dugdell, Sandra Currell and Kenny Walsh 22-12 (11 ends to 7 ends)<\/li>\n<li>Runners up: John Moore and Tom Clarke def Neil Johnston and Todd Currell 21-13 (11 ends to 7 ends)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Another score of interest was Lorri Holmes and Eunice Smith who defeated Jenny Moore and Horst Myer 18-11 (10 ends to 8 ends).<\/p>\n<p>All eyes will be on Nanango today, though, when Yarraman play Nanango in Rotational Triples at Nanango<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Tansey news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tansey are well under way with their Championship calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Last week the Mens singles were finalised. In the semi-finals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Barsby 25 def R Marshall 2<\/li>\n<li>D Banbury 26 def M Litfin 19<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the final, A Barsby 26 def D Banbury 9. Well done Barsby!<\/p>\n<p>And in social bowls last Friday night, with 3 points for a win and 1 point for an end:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winners: R Chauvier and P Litfin with 16 points<\/li>\n<li>Runners up M Litfin, B Henness and M Marschall with 15 Points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The next night bowls will be on April 4.<\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s one for the diary:<\/p>\n<p>Tansey are combining with the Boonara Masonic Lodge to host a fundraiser next Saturday in aid of the Care Flight Helicopter service. Bowls start at 3:00pm and will be followed by a barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>Looks like being a good afternoon out.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Nanango news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In last Friday&#8217;s Scroungers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trevor George 82<\/li>\n<li>Ben Pratap 51<\/li>\n<li>Lew Saunders 47<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And last Saturday, 32 players from Nanango and Kilkivan travelled to Burgowan to pay them a return visit. However Burgowan&#8217;s carpet green soon sorted out the visitors, and the only local team to win was Lew Saunders, Henry Bliesner, Sue Tucker and Brian Havell.<\/p>\n<p>In Tuesday&#8217;s Men&#8217;s Social &#8211; with 1 for an end and 4 for a win:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cec Bracken and Trevor George &#8211; 23 pts<\/li>\n<li>Keith Carroll and Athol Jensen &#8211; 20 pts<\/li>\n<li>Joe Aglizzio and John McConnell &#8211; 16 pts<\/li>\n<li>Bob Hammond and Bob Hall &#8211; 14pts<\/li>\n<li>Greg Pogson and Ben Pratap &#8211; 12pts<\/li>\n<li>Lew Saunders and Nev Lawrence &#8211; 11pts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lets stop there<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Wednesday&#8217;s Ladies Club Social saw some of the regulars on the green.<\/p>\n<p>A score of interest was Di McNeilage, June McKee and Sylvia Fanning 20 def Muriel Benfield, Margaret Bradford and Evelyn Jensen 14.<\/p>\n<p>Nanango will host the Rotational Triples match against Yarraman today with a 12:30pm start.<\/p>\n<p>On your bikes, bowlers!<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Esk news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Sunday in Pairs, Kerri-Ann and Frank played Greg and Armand; and Laurie and Pam played Rob and Karen.<\/p>\n<p>There was quite a tussle on the second match &#8211; the game was actually a draw but Laurie and Pam won on count back.<\/p>\n<p>Also on that day &#8211; in an Open Singles Championship game &#8211; Vicki Cameron defeated our 2012-13 champion Doug Laidlaw 25-18.<\/p>\n<p>Vicki now plays Frank Hussey in the final.<\/p>\n<p>And in Thursday night&#8217;s barefoot bowls, the singles winners were Pearlie, Stewart and Gerit.<\/p>\n<p>Bribie Island will be visiting tomorrow and I&#8217;m looking forward to that one &#8211; it should be a match worth watching.<\/p>\n<p>The club&#8217;s next trip away will be to Woongoolba for the Friendship Cup.
