AgForce General Manager (Policy) Lauren Hewitt has won the 2014 Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation Queensland Rural Women\u2019s Award.<\/p>\n

Premier Campbell Newman today congratulated Ms Hewitt, who will receive a $10,000 bursary.<\/p>\n

Mr Newman said Lauren would use this bursary to share her research findings in leasehold land and alternative rental methods with other States and territories.<\/p>\n

\u201cLauren will also create a new leasehold land working group to foster collaborations with farm representative bodies and share information with landholders,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe will now go on to compete in the national Rural Women\u2019s Awards in Canberra in October and show Australia the great work Queensland women are doing in the agriculture sector.\u201d<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister John McVeigh said the finalists were judged on how they would use the Queensland bursary prize to develop their proposals for the benefit of primary industries.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to congratulate the runner-up Rhonda Sorensen and finalists Judith Symonds and Lorelle McShane on their achievements,\u201d Mr McVeigh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have all showcased impressive projects ranging from sustainable farm practices, to management of kangaroos in grazing areas and empowering women in horticulture.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Rural Women\u2019s Award promotes leadership for women across primary industries by identifying and supporting the talents of emerging leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
