The South Burnett Regional Council has received clearance from Queensland Health to lift the health warning on Kingaroy water.<\/p>\n

Water portfolio holder Cr Barry Green said today that Kingaroy\u2019s water was safe to drink.<\/p>\n

SBRC General Manager Infrastructure Russell Hood told\u00a0southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0last week that Council had been conducting weekly tests at six points in Kingaroy to measure levels of trihalomethanes (THMs) and he predicted the warning would be lifted this week.<\/p>\n

Council started sourcing water for Kingaroy from Boondooma Dam when the treatment process did not lower the levels of THMs in water from Gordonbrook Dam.<\/p>\n

The supply will remain sourced from Boondooma Dam for the next couple of months while Council reviews the options available for blending water supplies from Gordonbrook and Boondooma.<\/p>\n

Monitoring will continue to ensure safe water supply.<\/p>\n
