Cherbourg has joined the SBRC’s fight to keep the Brisbane to Murgon bus service operational<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council has joined the South Burnett Regional Council’s push to keep the Brisbane to Murgon bus service running.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> that Cherbourg had agreed yesterday to contribute $6000 towards keeping the bus service running until June 30.<\/p>\n

“This is a tremendous commitment from Cherbourg.” Mayor Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

“I have a great working relationship with Cherbourg Mayor Ken Bone, and our CEOs also have a great working relationship.<\/p>\n

“They’re not a wealthy Council so this is a tremendous contribution on their part and we really appreciate it.”<\/p>\n

The Mayor said his next step would be to get in touch with Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio to try to obtain a similar commitment from the Toowoomba Regional Council.<\/p>\n

He will then contact Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann to seek a similar commitment there.<\/p>\n

Mayor Lehmann has already indicated that his Council would be very happy to join a delegation seeking to have the State Government agree to subsidise the bus line to ensure its continued operation across all four Shires.<\/p>\n
