Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney has made good on his promise to give the South Burnett Regional Council $10 million towards the cost of upgrading Kingaroy’s ageing Wastewater Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n

The State Government today announced the list of successful applicants for Round 2 of its “Royalties For The Regions” program.<\/p>\n

Twenty regional councils will share $100 million in grants.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council and Toowoomba Regional Council are two of the top three recipients.<\/p>\n

Mr Seeney said approved Round 2 projects would help create better roads, water treatment and supply facilities, and important services such as childcare centres in regional Queensland.<\/p>\n

“Round 3 expressions of interest applications have just closed and the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning has received keen interest from 43 regional councils submitting a total of 88 expressions of interest,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Royalties for the Regions is successful because of its collaboration and partnership with industry and local government.<\/p>\n

“I look forward to announcing short listed Round 3 expressions of interest in April this year.”<\/p>\n
