A 22-year-old Murgon driver who ran off the road and crashed on Saturday afternoon near Memerambi was allegedly checking her Facebook status when she lost control of her car.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the woman was very lucky to be alive.<\/p>\n

He said the woman was driving north on the Bunya Highway when she took her eyes off the road to check Facebook.<\/p>\n

Her car drifted on to the wrong side of the road but fortunately there was no oncoming traffic.<\/p>\n

“She attempted to correct but over-corrected, lost control and slid into the tabledrain,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

“It could have been a fatal.<\/p>\n

“Facebook is not that important.”<\/p>\n

The woman has been charged with driving without due care and attention.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy police had to deal with three drink drivers over the weekend, all allegedly blowing high readings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Friday night at 11.00pm, an RBT unit tested a 21-year-old Nanango man in Diamond Court, Kingaroy. \u00a0He recorded a BAC of 0.134.<\/p>\n

Three hours later, a 21-year-old Murgon man was tested in Youngman Street \/ River Road. His reading was 0.147.<\/p>\n

At 3:00pm on Sunday, police pulled over a 67-year-old woman driver in Albert Street, Kingaroy, after calls to police about erratic driving.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said the woman was “extremely intoxicated”. Her reading was 0.133 BAC<\/p>\n

Police arrested a 21-year-old man in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, at 7:00am on Saturday. The man was wanted for breaching bail on a previous charge of failing to appear.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy police are investigating vandalism which occurred at Kingaroy State High School at the weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Principal Helen Maudsley said graffiti was written on several school buildings.<\/p>\n
