March marks the start of autumn &#8211; though it&#8217;ll be hot for awhile yet &#8211; and some of the clubs are well underway with their club championships.<\/p>\n<p>Binjour is setting a good example.<\/p>\n<p>So let\u2019s start with them.<center><strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/strong><\/center><strong>Binjour News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A number of Club Championship matches have been played in the past two weeks:<\/p>\n<p>In the Men&#8217;s Singles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Steve Meyer 25 def Shane Wiley 20<\/li>\n<li>John Stott 25 def Nifti Lamkin 23<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the Mixed Pairs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brittany Wiley and Tyson Meyer 28 def John Stott and Sandra Stott 11<\/li>\n<li>Pat Darlington and Shane Wiley 22 def Barry Wengel and Leann Pace 17<\/li>\n<li>Gail Evans and Steve Meyer 22 def Aileen Wiley and Kelvin Wiley 18<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And in the Ladies Pairs, Pat Darlington and Leann Pace 24 defeated Maureen Guyatt and Gail Evans 16.<\/p>\n<p>The next big event is the Mens Fours to be held on the 22-23 March.<center><strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/strong><\/center><strong>Yarraman news <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ladies enjoyed their day on the green Wednesday, with conditions of play one game over 21 ends and biggest winning margin.<\/p>\n<p>Strangely enough, they were all very close games:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winners: Horst Myer and Alison Anderson def Neil Currell and Jenny Moore 17-13 &#8211; scoring a margin of 4<\/li>\n<li>Runners Up: Bev Profke and Robyn Diercke def Brian Dugdell and Leo Robinson 24-21 &#8211; a margin of 3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let\u2019s run through the other scores:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kev Profke and Roy Wrembeck def Ivy Wrembeck and Kay Dugdell 19-16<\/li>\n<li>Jim LeCocq and Eunice Smith drew John Beattie, Eileen Elliott 16-16<\/li>\n<li>John Moore and Lola Harper def Di Currell and Yvonne Schultz 16-15<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How&#8217;s that for a day\u2019s bowling!<\/p>\n<p>And in Thursday Night Bowls, with conditions of play 21 ends and 1 for an end, 2 for a win:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winners: Neil Johnston and Eunice Smith def Horst Myer and Kerry Walsh 24-11 (15 ends to 6)<\/li>\n<li>Brian Dugdell and Marge Clarke def Merv Fitch and Tom Clarke 19-13 (13 ends to 8)<\/li>\n<li>Kev Profke and Todd Currell drew with Kerry Knowles and Arthur Smith 15-15 (11 ends to 10 )<\/li>\n<li>Lorri Holmes and Sandra Currell def Bev Profke and Margaret Willoughby 17-13 (13 ends to 8)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><center><strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/strong><\/center><strong>Kilcoy news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In last Saturday&#8217;s social bowls there was a great turn up of players &#8211; 56 in all &#8211; for two games of 13 ends.<\/p>\n<p>Four teams won two games each.<\/p>\n<p>They were Lester Bechly&#8217;s team, Peter Stanton&#8217;s team, Greg Staniforth&#8217;s team and Dozer Bechly&#8217;s team.<\/p>\n<p>Winner of the day was drawn out of the hat, and Dozer Bechly, John Dickson, Tanya Arnold and Cathy Lapthorn turned up trumps<\/p>\n<p>And on Tuesday, the first of the A Singles Championships was played, with Lester Bechly defeating Dennis Bleakley 25-5.<\/p>\n<p>The same day, social bowls attracted another good roll-up of 26 players. The next Round Robin is at Mt Crosby on 16 March.<\/p>\n<p>There were also three bowl triples and pairs on Wednesday and Sunday, plus barefoot bowls every Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Esk will be visiting Mt Crosby next week for Ladies Day, and Bribie will visit on March 9.<\/p>\n<p>Esk Secretary Fay Thomson reports that the calendar is getting quite congested &#8211; surprising for this time of the year.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, the club championships are under way.<\/p>\n<p>Last week in the Open Pairs Allen Cameron and Rob Horkins defeated Vicki Cameron and Rob Buckworth.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/strong><\/center><\/p>\n<p><strong>Like South Burnett bowls news?
