About 10 families took advantage of the annual open day at the 135 Australian Cadet Unit at Wondai on Sunday to allow would-be cadets and their parents to find out more about the Army Cadets.<\/p>\n

Captain Peter Schneidewin said the visitors had the chance to chat to officers and current cadets as well as inspect displays.<\/p>\n

Stands highlighted field equipment, ration packs, camouflage and concealment gear and communication tools.<\/p>\n

Cadets must be aged between 12 1\/2 and 17 to join.<\/p>\n

135 ACU parades every second Sunday at the 25\/49 RQR army base in Wondai.<\/p>\n

There are currently 20 cadets in the unit.<\/p>\n

Five of them have recently been promoted after completing courses and panel interviews.<\/p>\n

They were presented with their new ranks at a parade on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Wondai unit now has two new Lance Corporals, two new Corporals and a new Sergeant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
