There’s going to be a lot happening at Cherbourg from tomorrow as NAIDOC Week<\/a><\/strong> gets underway.<\/p>\n

The annual celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is held every year in July.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow (July 2), the Cherbourg Timeline<\/strong> will be officially launched at the Ration Shed Museum<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Local Cherbourg artists joined with RAtaRtat artists to paint the backdrop for the Timeline which will become a permanent exhibition in the Ration Shed.<\/p>\n

The Timeline tells the history of Cherbourg through words, photographs, quotes and artwork and has taken more than 18 months to develop.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, all South Burnett residents are invited to attend the Cherbourg Community Open Day<\/strong> which will also be held in and around the Ration Shed.<\/p>\n

Local band Muddy Flats will be providing live music and there’ll also be dancing by the Wakka Wakka dancers, and camp oven cooking.<\/p>\n

Community groups such as the PCYC and YACCA will have displays, and there’ll be a scrapbooking workshop. Films and slideshows will be screened in the old Dormitory.<\/p>\n

The winners of the NAIDOC Art Competition will also be announced.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, there’ll also be special activities at the Barambah Medical Health Centre and the Nurunderi TAFE College.<\/p>\n
