The Kingaroy Art Gallery has been invaded by photographers. And the public can see the result on Friday night, February 14.<\/p>\n

The centrepiece of the Gallery’s February exhibition is a display of 148 photographs by members of the Murgon Camera Club.<\/p>\n

Club members Greg Gerchow, Ivor Dimmock, Gerald Dehaen, Russell Stimpson, Janette Scanlan, Geoff Grevell and Max Walters have created “mini exhibitions” of their works throughout the Main Gallery and Gallery 2.<\/p>\n

Their photographs cover everything from the dust of the Goomeri Rodeo through to the red soils of the outback and Northern Territory.<\/p>\n

Gallery curator Fiona Kemp said this month’s showing is one of the largest local photography exhibitions the Gallery has ever mounted.<\/p>\n

However, previous photographic exhibitions had proven very popular with the public.<\/p>\n

“The last time we exhibited some of Max Walters’ photographs we had three or four prints walking out the door every day,” she said.<\/p>\n

Gallery 3, meanwhile, holds “Time And Tide” – a small collection of watercolours by local artist Cherie Sibley.<\/p>\n

Several of Cherie’s pieces were seen at the Gallery’s “Artist’s Verandah” exhibition in December, and the February exhibition features a newer and much larger selection of her work.<\/p>\n

And the Youth Gallery is hosting “Crazy Cat Lady” by young artist Lynden Day, who is passionate about her cat Mystery which gave her the inspiration for the artworks on show.<\/p>\n

The new exhibition has been on display since February 4 and will remain on display until Friday, February 28.<\/p>\n

But the official opening will occur at 6:00pm this Friday, and the public are most welcome to attend.<\/p>\n
