The spotlight has been shone recently on the high level of obesity in the South Burnett but there’s really no excuse not to get off the couch to get some exercise, according to the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation.<\/p>\n

BIEDO South Burnett Club Development Officer Nicole O\u2019Brien said there were more than 50 sport and recreation clubs within the region, and many of them were struggling to get more members.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf people are keen to lose weight and increase their physical activity, joining a local sport or recreation club will help achieve this,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also a great way to meet new people, get involved in the community and ensure the viability of our valuable clubs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicole said with the winter sporting season about to start, now was the perfect time to join a club.<\/p>\n

Sign-ups for a variety of different sports and activities are happening over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n
