Cherbourg’s Ration Shed Museum is celebrating its 10th birthday this year. \u00a0And on Tuesday, February 25, the museum will be kicking off its birthday celebrations with the official launch of the latest addition to its expanding local history product range: a book capturing a century of Cherbourg’s history in photographs.<\/p>\n

“On The Banks Of The Barambah – A History Of Cherbourg” was put together by Cherbourg artist Rocko Langton and released from the printers last month.<\/p>\n

It features many of the original historical photographs featured on The Ration Shed’s Timeline which catalogues the history of the township from its foundation in 1899 through to the present day.<\/p>\n

The high-gloss, perfect-bound book went on sale at The Ration Shed’s gift shop a few weeks ago, and can also be ordered online from The Ration Shed’s website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

It costs $39.95, and all proceeds will be used to help fund the museum’s operations.<\/p>\n

The launch of the book forms the centrepiece of a small celebration being held at the museum that day to commemorate the sixth anniversary of former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s National Apology to Aboriginal people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Activities will kick off at 11:00am with a Welcome To Country and a performance by the Barambah Dancers.<\/p>\n

This will be followed by the screening of a short film “The Early Days”, and then a brief open microphone session when visitors will be invited to speak about what the National Apology meant to them as Australians.<\/p>\n

After this, the book will be officially launched, and then a light finger food lunch will be served at 12:30pm.<\/p>\n
