Kumbia Kindergarten is urging guests to dress in purple – “a little or a lot” – for its 2nd annual International Women’s Day lunch which will be held next month at Kumbia Memorial Hall.<\/p>\n

Last year, the event was “Pink For A Purpose” so, naturally enough, the theme for this year is “Purple For A Purpose”.<\/p>\n

Guest speakers will be former Queensland Assistant Police Commissioner Ann Lewis and well-known Kumbia residents Pat Hobdell and Skye Curtain.<\/p>\n

Ann Lewis is a former Toowoomba girl who climbed to a high rank in the Queensland Police before her retirement in 2012.<\/p>\n

Pat Hobdell, who was born and raised in the Kumbia area, was the 2013 Australia Day recipient of the South Burnett Local Achiever Award for community service. She has been an integral part of Kumbia State School activities for many years.<\/p>\n

Skye Curtain is a fifth generation farmer’s daughter and former ABC Radio reporter. She is married to local singer \/songwriter Tom Curtain. Skye and her family divide their time between the Northern Territory and the South Burnett with their successful horsebreaking \/ training business.<\/p>\n

Compere for the day will be local author – and last year’s guest speaker – Alice Greenup.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be market stalls, music by Sing Australia and multi-draw raffles.<\/p>\n

The Kumbia Kindy’s International Women’s Day Luncheon will held from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Friday, March 14.<\/p>\n
