South Burnett police road patrols have detected traffic offences ranging from speeding to drink-driving over the last week<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Queensland roll toll is weighing on the minds of local police with 25 fatalities recorded already across the State so far this year.<\/p>\n

In the South Burnett, one person has died – a 79-year-old Bribie Island man killed in a collision on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road \/ Bunya Highway intersection in January.<\/p>\n

Officer-on-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, makes no apologies for police being out and about enforcing the road rules in a bid to stop the carnage.<\/p>\n

Last Wednesday, Kingaroy police conducting speed enforcement patrols stopped a tourist bus – full of tourists – speeding through the 40km\/h zone outside Taabinga State School. \u00a0The vehicle was clocked at 58km\/h.<\/p>\n

“It’s dangerous for a car to be doing that speed outside a school, let alone a large tourist coach,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

On Thursday evening, at 7:00pm, a police patrol on Kingaroy-Cooyar Road stopped a 39-year-old Kingaroy man who was doing 147km\/h in the 100km\/h zone. The man, who was driving a Mitsubishi Magna sedan, was issued with a fine of more than $1000 and an automatically lost his licence.<\/p>\n

There were also added patrols by the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit to coincide with the influx of traffic on local roads due to the Boondooma Yellowbelly competition.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said various offences were detected including people driving unregistered vehicles, driving with unrestrained passengers, speeding, driving defective vehicles and using a mobile phone while driving.<\/p>\n

Two drink drivers were also charged.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, a 44-year-old Proston man allegedly blew 0.208 BAC – more than four times the legal limit – when he was pulled over on the Proston-Boondooma Road.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, a 66-year-old Proston man allegedly recorded 0.053 BAC and a\u00a040-year-old Proston woman was charged with disqualified driving.<\/p>\n

On Thursday afternoon, a 15-year-old Kingaroy youth was arrested over an outstanding assault which occurred at Nanango. He was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.<\/p>\n

On Friday morning, the fire brigade, ambulance and police \u00a0were called to Gordonbrook Dam after a fire broke out in an Isuzu campervan.<\/p>\n

The male camper, from Gympie, was apparently cooking his breakfast about 10:30am on a gas stove when something went wrong.<\/p>\n

The stove and cupboards in the van were damaged but the man did not require any medical attention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
