My apologies to all our regular readers.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, we have plenty of bowls news for you today.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s kick off with what the Burnett District Ladies have been doing.<br \/>\n<center><strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/strong><\/center><br \/>\n<strong>The Burnett District Ladies held a very successful day at Binjour Bowls Club last Saturday. 16 mixed teams played in windy conditions, and most clubs in the district were represented.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was the first time that a day such as this was run by the District Ladies. <\/p>\n<p>Its purpose was to raise some money to help fund the Annual District Sides trip, which is being held at Gold Coast this year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winners were the Gayndah team of Amy Bellert (skip), Warwick Bellert, T Colvin and Brodie Kirk. They received gift vouchers donated by Mitre10 Gayndah.<BR>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Runners up were the Murgon team of Carol Watters (skip), Maureen Janke, Lyn Mundy and Carol Hatchman. Their trophies were donated by Burnett District Ladies<BR>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Third place went to the Binjour team of Pat Darlington (skip), Steve Meyer, Maureen Guyatt and Doug Darlington. Their trophies were donated by Lyn Woodall Monto<BR>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>And the Sportmans Award went to the Binjour team of Lyn Krause (skip), Jack Krause, Snow Taylor and Gayle Evans. Their trophies were donated by Mundubbera Pharmacy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Bowls at Binjour:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Woodford\u2019s Seafood Day is probably one of the most popular tournaments on the calendar for this part of South East Queensland, and it was a very successful day financially and socially.<\/p>\n<p>It was played on Thursday over two rounds of 13 ends, with 6 points for a win and 2 points for an end.<\/p>\n<p>Overall winners were Peter Hughes\u2019 team from Glass House. They bolted in with 45 points. Runners up were the Bigwood team from Bribie, who scored 44 points.<\/p>\n<p>Round winners were interesting too.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Graham\u2019s team from Woodford won the second round with 22 points on a count-back from the highly fancied Yarraman team skipped by Merv Fitch.<\/p>\n<p>Merv\u2019s team included their President Brian Dugdell, their B Grade champion Horst Meyer and Leo Robinson.<\/p>\n<p>A win over Merv Fitch is always something to skite about!<\/p>\n<p>Round one went to the Past President\u2019s team skipped by Henry Sanderson &#8211; they scored 26 points.<\/p>\n<p>There wasn&#8217;t much left for the seagulls after the day finished.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Gayndah news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The club&#8217;s popular Men\u2019s Fours Carnival was a big weekend &#8211; so big that the book has been full since November.<\/p>\n<p>Teams came from Cunnamulla, Coffs Harbour, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Taroom, Kilcoy, Miriamvale, Kingaroy, Sunshine Coast and, of course, many local teams.<\/p>\n<p>$3600 in prize money was on offer, and a Calcutta ran at 9:00am this morning<\/p>\n<p>In the first game of 2014 championship pairs played last weekend, Steve Meredith and Alan Cooper played Alex Colvin and Rick Bellert. A very good friendship and networking exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The club also held Pub Day on Tuesday and, as always, there were a lot of visitors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First round winners: Don Schimke\u2019s team from Laidley.<\/li>\n<li>Second round winners: Bill Percy\u2019s team from Gatton<\/li>\n<li>Overall winners: Don Currie\u2019s team from North Ipswich<\/li>\n<li>Runners-Up: Ted Jenkin\u2019s team from Esk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first round of the 2014 round robin will be played at the Durack-Inala club tomorrow week.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Finally, time to look at the calendar:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Today &#8211; The regular rotational triples challenge (Nanango versus Yarraman) is on in Nanango, 1:00pm start<\/li>\n<li>Tomorrow in Yarraman &#8211; Sunday Bowls, a club select with a 12:30pm start plus Ladies bowls in Yarraman 9:00am and Nanango 9:30am<\/li>\n<li>Thursday night &#8211; bowls at both Yarraman and Nanango<\/li>\n<li>Friday: Scroungers at Nanango with a 3:00pm start<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><center><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>* * *<\/h2>\n<p><\/center><strong>Like South Burnett bowls news?
