Tom Quilty Cup<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Organisers of the Tom Quilty Gold Cup<\/a><\/strong> have received $25,000 assistance from Queensland Events to help stage the iconic endurance horse ride in Kilkivan next year.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett last hosted “the Quilty” in 2008 in Nanango.<\/p>\n

The 160km horse riding challenge, which began in NSW in 1966, will be held from June 5-9 next year.<\/p>\n

The annual event was the brainchild of the late RM Williams.\u00a0It attracts up to 250 champion endurance riders every year from Australia and overseas.<\/p>\n

It’s named after Tom Quilty, a cattleman and friend of RM Williams, who donated the perpetual trophy which is now on permanent display in the Stockman’s Hall of Fame in Longreach.<\/p>\n
