The World’s Greatest Shave – the annual fundraiser for the Leukaemia Foundation – will be taking on a special meaning this year for friends and family of well-known South Burnett resident Peta Baines.<\/p>\n

Peta, who has worked for local training and employment agencies for many years, is currently receiving treatment in Brisbane for ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) which was diagnosed in February last year.<\/p>\n

Her daughter Belinda has entered the The World’s Greatest Shave on March 8 and is determined to raise much-needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation by losing her locks.<\/p>\n

“I was very skeptical of different foundations and where the money was spent until I was on the receiving end of this particular foundation,” Belinda said.<\/p>\n

“While I was busy trying to come to terms with the fact that my mother had cancer the foundation organised accommodation, transport and social support to take away as much stress as possible from the already distraught situation.<\/p>\n

“If this foundation did not exist, a lot of families could not survive the financial stresses involved with the lengthy treatments involved with blood cancers.”<\/p>\n

Belinda is hoping South Burnett residents will join her in her quest by sponsoring her effort.<\/p>\n

“I have a personal Facebook page<\/a><\/strong> open to the public that I welcome you all to join,” she said.<\/p>\n

“On this page you will find photos of different events the Leukaemia Foundation has held to help these families in need.<\/p>\n

“You will also be able to watch me losing my hair on March 8.”<\/p>\n

Belinda said she would bequeath her hair to Locks of Love<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0“another wonderful foundation I recommend you check out!”<\/p>\n
