A little over 20 months after Barambah Wines reluctantly “mothballed” their Redgate winery and cellar door, the company recently – though very quietly – staged a small reopening.<\/p>\n

Former Clovely Estate cellar door licencees Wally and Cathie Pesudovs relocated to Barambah Wines’ cellar door in early December, and now trade as Barambah Wines and Bistro every weekend between 10:00am and 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

The popular couple became famous in the Moffatdale area for their Old Dairy Restaurant, which was built inside an historic dairy on the Clovely Estate property.<\/p>\n

But while the Old Dairy has been closed for the last few months since the couple moved on, the same culinary skills that made it such a “must do” dining experience now live on at Barambah Wines.<\/p>\n

The restaurant offers a small but high-quality menu of seafoods and steaks, entrees and desserts along with the Barambah Wines range, which are crafted by Master Of Wine Peter Scudamore-Smith.<\/p>\n

While the winery was in mothballs, Barambah Wines’ cellar stock was put into temperature-controlled storage to ensure the wines continued ageing correctly and to avoid spoilage,<\/p>\n

As a result, the wines are now two years older and even better than when they were originally laid down.<\/p>\n

But they still retail at 2011 prices.<\/p>\n

The winery continues to use Taste South Burnett as its satellite cellar door in Kingaroy, but now visitors to Barambah Wines’ estate at Goshnick’s Road in Redgate can obtain the same selection there as well.<\/p>\n

Barambah Wines are also producing a small range of new releases, including a 2013 Verdelho and a rack-dried semillion. A rack-dried shiraz is also expected late this year.<\/p>\n

Bookings at the new restaurant aren’t mandatory, but are always appreciated.<\/p>\n
