Tarong and Tarong North power stations raised almost $4000 for the Cancer Council Australia yesterday with an “Australia\u2019s Biggest Morning Tea” function.<\/p>\n

And the good news is, Stanwell Corporation, which owns the Tarong power stations, will match the funds raised dollar-for-dollar.<\/p>\n

Stanwell Acting Chief Executive Officer Richard Van Breda, who attended the fundraising event at Tarong Power Station, said he was proud to see so many employees supporting the event.<\/p>\n

“This year was especially pleasing because so many employees donated items to be auctioned, including home-baked goods and gift hampers,” Mr Van Breda said.<\/p>\n

“Our fundraising efforts will support the Cancer Council’s vital work in cancer research, prevention and support.<\/p>\n

“Every one of us, in some way, has experienced or known someone affected by cancer.”<\/p>\n

The $3962 raised was a combination of proceeds from an auction, the sale of souvenir mugs, raffles and gold coin donations.<\/p>\n

Several local businesses generously donated items for the raffles and gift hampers. These included Haymans Electrical, Airds Hardware, Bunya Quality Sausages, Maidenwell Hotel, Huston Ford and Kingaroy Camping and Canvas.<\/p>\n

Biggest Morning Tea events were also held at Stanwell\u2019s other sites across the State this month.<\/p>\n

Mr Van Breda said overall the corporation hoped to raise more than $20,000 for the Cancer Council Australia from this month\u2019s Biggest Morning Tea events.<\/p>\n
