Twenty-eight local schools will be almost $1.75 million better off following the announcement today of a new State Government education program, dubbed the “Great Results Guarantee”.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the funding was part of the government\u2019s $131 million commitment to boost student outcomes in Queensland state schools.<\/p>\n

More than $1.113 million will be spent on 13 schools in the Nanango electorate, while 15 schools in the Callide electorate will share $636,587.<\/p>\n

The money has been allocated to schools based on their enrolments and is aimed at assisting children in the early years of school.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything the Newman Government does in education is focused on achieving better student outcomes,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this announcement of more than $1 million for our South Burnett schools delivers on our commitment to revitalise frontline services as promised at the election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want every Queenslander to enjoy a quality education experience so that they are well equipped to enter further education, training and employment.”<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said the majority of the funding would be targeted at the early years of school which research shows is the most vital time in a child\u2019s learning.<\/p>\n

She said principals, in consultation with their school communities, would develop an agreement which would be entered into with the Director General of the Department of Education, Training and Employment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want parents and carers to be part of this process and set their expectations for what they want their children to achieve,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe school can then develop a plan to achieve those outcomes. For example, after school numeracy tutoring, reading workshops for parents or a coach to improve teachers\u2019 skills in delivering programs for students with a disability.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is about investing in our future, our children, and ensuring that Queensland remains a great State with great opportunity for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

All 1233 State schools across Queensland will receive their current level of funding, plus a share of the $131 million in 2014. On average, schools will receive an extra $508 per student in Prep to Year 2.<\/p>\n
