Heritage Bank is calling for nominations for its 2014 Volunteer of The Year awards.<\/p>\n

More than 170 Queensland volunteers and their organisations have nominated so far for the award, which offers up to $13,000 in prizes for individuals and community organisations.<\/p>\n

Nominations close next Friday, January 31, and voting closes on February 7.<\/p>\n

Heritage Bank CEO John Minz said there was still time for people to show their appreciation and support for their favourite volunteer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Volunteer of the Year Award gives everyday Queenslanders the chance to recognise the hard work and dedication of volunteers from community organisations, big and small,\u201d Mr Minz said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve received over 10,500 votes from the public so far and there\u2019s still time for people to have their say.<\/p>\n

“The volunteers currently nominated come from a diverse range of organisations including those who help the elderly, children, the disadvantaged, animals and support their local communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The volunteer with the highest number of public votes will receive $10,000 for their organisation and $1000 for themselves.<\/p>\n

Two runner-up volunteers as voted by the public will win $1000 for their organisation and $100 each for themselves.<\/p>\n

One volunteer will receive The People First Award of $1000 for their organisation and $100 for themselves. This will be awarded by Heritage Bank to the volunteer who best embodies the Heritage values of integrity, excellence and community.<\/p>\n

Nominations and voting for the Award are open to the public and can be completed via the Heritage Bank website<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as well as the Heritage Facebook page<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
