The South Burnett Gas Guzzlers hot rod and street machine club went on a special run last week … just to help out a young Kumbia girl.<\/p>\n

Dakota Gallagher, 5, has a rare condition called hypertonia, similar to cerebral palsy, which is affecting her muscle tone and hindering her development of fine motor skills.<\/p>\n

She started prep this year but has been struggling to hold a pencil.<\/p>\n

Medical specialists had suggested an iPad could assist, which is where the Gas Guzzlers stepped in to help.<\/p>\n

Late last year, the club learned about Dakota’s plight and decided to put some of their fund-raising to a good cause.<\/p>\n

“The South Burnett Gas Guzzlers were happy to help out by purchasing an iPad and accessories,” club secretary Rhonda Mackrell said.<\/p>\n

“The club approached Chris Robins, manager of Betta Home Living (in Kingaroy) who assisted with the purchase at cost.<\/p>\n

“The South Burnett Gas Guzzlers host a car show in July at Maidenwell every year and this enables us to have the funds to donate in situations like this.<\/p>\n

“The club would like to thank all the public who attend these events and support us and we hope that they continue to do so in the future.<\/p>\n

“The smile on Dakota’s face makes all our efforts worthwhile.”<\/p>\n
