The Rural Fire Service Queensland is urging South and North Burnett residents to be vigilant with heightened fire conditions predicted in coming days.<\/p>\n

RFSQ North Coast Regional Manager Peter Hollier said firefighters were monitoring conditions and were well prepared to fight potential fires.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re expecting high fire danger for the North and South Burnett as temperatures rise and humidity decreases,\u201d Mr Hollier said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis mix of elements makes conditions perfect for fires to spark and spread quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese conditions also make it difficult to contain vegetation fires, so we\u2019re asking residents to take extra care and be alert.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Hollier said landowners who had conducted hazard reduction burns recently were strongly encouraged to take immediate steps to ensure their fire had been properly extinguished.<\/p>\n

\u201cLandowners who have conducted burns are also asked to make sure residual fires are contained so that they will not escape,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they haven\u2019t already, I urge residents to finalise preparations on their property and visit the Rural Fire Service Queensland website<\/strong><\/a> to download a bushfire survival plan so that no one is caught off guard,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

NB.\u00a0All fire permits for residents in the Cherbourg and South Burnett council areas are still suspended due to the high fire risk.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
