Australia’s favourite canine Red Dog<\/strong> will be one of stars of the 2012 Big Screen\u00a0Film Festival<\/strong><\/a> in Nanango and Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0National\u00a0Film and\u00a0Sound\u00a0Archive\u00a0of\u00a0Australia, in partnership with the South Burnett\u00a0Regional Council, will again be giving South Burnett audiences the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0enjoy an array of award-winning Aussie films at the Nanango\u00a0Cultural\u00a0Centre and the\u00a0Satellite\u00a0Cinema,\u00a0Kingaroy, from May 18-20.<\/p>\n

As well as Red Dog, this year’s titles include Killer\u00a0Elite<\/strong>, The Cup<\/strong> and the family comedy Happy\u00a0Feet Two<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Killer Elite stars Robert DeNiro, Jason Statham and Clive Owen. This American-Australian co-production was partly shot in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

The Cup is the heart-warming true story of jockey Damien Oliver’s 2002 Melbourne Cup win on board Media Puzzle.<\/p>\n

The special guest for the 2012\u00a0Big\u00a0Screen\u00a0film\u00a0festival is still a mystery but previous guests\u00a0have included Jacki\u00a0Weaver,\u00a0Sigrid\u00a0Thornton\u00a0and\u00a0Oscar-winning\u00a0film\u00a0director Adam\u00a0Elliot.<\/p>\n

The festival will be launched on Friday, May 18, with a red\u00a0carpet\u00a0event at the Nanango Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n

“Council is\u00a0proud\u00a0to\u00a0support\u00a0Big\u00a0Screen\u00a0for\u00a0its\u00a0sixth\u00a0tour\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0region,” SBRC CEO Ken McLoughlin said.<\/p>\n

“This\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0fantastic\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0enjoy\u00a0Australian\u00a0films\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0big\u00a0screen\u00a0with\u00a0your\u00a0friends\u00a0and\u00a0family, and\u00a0I\u00a0urge everyone\u00a0to\u00a0take advantage of this\u00a0quality event.<\/p>\n

“I would also like to sincerely thank Heritage Nanango Community Branch for their substantial financial contribution to the Big Screen Film Festival’s opening night event.”<\/p>\n

Tickets to the opening night are $20, which includes drinks and nibbles. All other tickets are $5.\u00a0Half\u00a0of the cost of every ticket\u00a0sold will be returned\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0community.<\/p>\n
