NBNCo's proposed coverage area<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Maps on the NBNCo website suggest that the largest South Burnett towns will eventually get access to fibre-optic broadband although this will not occur within the next three years.<\/p>\n

A map of south-east Queensland\u00a0shows red “fibre optic footprint”, grey “fixed wireless footprint” \u00a0and blue “transit links” shadowing the D’Aguilar and Bunya highways.<\/p>\n

This would mean that fibre-optic broadband coverage – with an NBNCo suggested speed of 1 gigabit per second – could eventually be possible in Nanango, Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon. Red dots closer to Brisbane most likely cover Yarraman and Blackbutt.<\/p>\n

Other townships \u00a0adjacent to the highways would be covered by the “fixed wireless” option. NBNCo says this would offer wholesale customers broadband services designed for 12Mbps download and 1Mbps upload.<\/p>\n

Smaller South Burnett towns away from the highways would rely on satellite services which would have a similar speed to wireless coverage.<\/p>\n
