A Nanango mother who admitted injecting methamphetamines while she was pregnant pleaded guilty in Kingaroy Magistrates Court today to possessing dangerous drugs and contravening a probation order.<\/p>\n

Rebecca Lyn Spencer, 35, had an “appalling history of drug charges, and an appalling history full stop”, police prosecutor Sgt Wayne Bushell said.<\/p>\n

Probation and Parole Officer\u00a0Ms Libby Bateman said Spencer had been placed on probation in 2012 on charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, possessing stolen goods, possessing tainted property, attempted fraud, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug items.<\/p>\n

Since then she had re-offended on nine occasions, had failed to attend appointments and had failed to supply urine samples as required. However, since receiving the summons to attend court for re-sentencing she had attended 11 appointments.<\/p>\n

Ms Bateman suggested the court should question her motives.<\/p>\n

Solicitor Mark Werner, for Spencer, said his client had now completed three clear urinanalysis tests and had been drug-free for five weeks.<\/p>\n

He said it was no concidence that her son, \u00a0who had been taken by the Department of Child Safety,\u00a0was now five weeks old.<\/p>\n

“It has been brought home to her if she wants that child back, then she has to change what she is doing,” Mr Werner said.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Barry Barrett sentenced Spencer to two months’ jail on the breach and six months’ on the drug possession count, to be served concurrently.<\/p>\n
