December 19, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n A driver employed to deliver parcels for Australia Post dumped at least 22 packages when he got behind in his deliveries, Kingaroy Magistrates Court was told today.<\/p>\n Rory Adam Graham, 28, pleaded guilty to one charge of theft of mail.<\/p>\n Sgt Wayne Bushell, acting on behalf of the Commonwealth Director of Prosecutions, \u00a0said in some circumstances the maximum penalty for this type of offence was 10 years jail and up to $66,000 in fines.<\/p>\n He said parcels were found dumped along the Old Wondai Road on several occasions in 2011.<\/p>\n The court was told Graham had been convicted of 13 offences of stealing in 2002 but this had related to a prank when 13 garden gnomes were removed from a person’s garden and relocated to a park.<\/p>\n There was no allegation that Graham had stolen any mail for his own personal gain.<\/p>\n Solicitor Caroline Cavanagh, for Graham, said her client had mental health issues.<\/p>\n She said because it was a Commonwealth offence it was open to the court to dismiss the charge and discharge him unconditionally so he could receive treatment.<\/p>\n Magistrate Barry Barrett said Graham’s behavior was “bizarre”.<\/p>\n He agreed with Ms Cavanagh, dismissing the charge and discharging Graham without penalty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A driver employed to deliver parcels for Australia Post dumped at least 22 packages when he got behind in his deliveries, Kingaroy Magistrates Court was told today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,24],"tags":[155,21,1132],"yoast_head":"\n
