Kingaroy Magistrates Court will be getting a new magistrate in 2014.<\/p>\n

Gympie solicitor Simon Young – one of three new magistrates whose appointment received Governor-in-Council approval today – will be officially sworn in on January 13.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Chief Magistrate Tim Carmody\u00a0said Mr Young would spend a short time in Brisbane before taking up his initial appointment as a magistrate at Caboolture.<\/p>\n

“This appointment is for eight months. Following that period, Mr Young will replace Magistrate (Mark) Bucknall as the Kingaroy Magistrate for a period of two years,” the spokesperson said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Young is a director of a Gympie law firm, is qualified to appear in the High Court of Australia, and is the former President of the Gympie Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie also announced the appointments of new magistrates Steven Mosch and Aaron Simpson today.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese three additions to the Magistrates ranks are well respected in their fields and will bring a wealth of diverse experience to their respective court rooms,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe appointments fill existing vacancies and follow extensive consultation with the Chief Magistrate and the legal fraternity,” Mr Blejies said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI welcome and thank Messrs Mosch, Young and Simpson for agreeing to take on these important roles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is vitally important that Queenslanders have access to justice, wherever they live in this State.\u201d<\/p>\n

Solicitor Steven Mosch will serve as a Magistrate in Townsville. Barrister Aaron Simpson, who has served as both a prosecutor and defence counsel, will begin his appointment in Ipswich, before moving to Bundaberg next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
