Jamie’s Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jamie’s Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen – which is coming to Nanango and Wondai next year – is seeking volunteers from the local community to assist with the program.<\/p>\n

Jamie\u2019s Ministry of Food<\/strong><\/a> will offer local residents the opportunity to access and participate in an innovative, community-based cooking program built on Jamie\u2019s beliefs about cooking and the associated impact on healthy living.<\/p>\n

Although the Mobile Kitchen comes staffed with a team of Ministry of Food trainers who will teach all of the classes, the program requires enthusiastic volunteers to assist with rolling out the courses. Very quickly a volunteer becomes an integral part of the Ministry of Food army.<\/p>\n

Ministry of Food Volunteers help the trainers make sure that classes run smoothly.<\/p>\n

Tasks include food preparation and supporting the trainers and participants during class.<\/p>\n

Volunteers are asked to commit to two hours each week for the five-week cycle during which they will build relationships with trainers and participants.<\/p>\n

Volunteers are not required to have professional kitchen experience. Anyone over the age of 16 years who has a commitment to the values and philosophies of the program and a keen interest in food and cooking are eligible.<\/p>\n

Jamie\u2019s Ministry of Food Volunteers are required to complete a volunteer induction and information session, which also includes a cooking class before beginning their volunteering. This allows the food trainers to give further details about the program, including safe food handling.<\/p>\n

Classes for the first of the two five-week cycles begins on Monday, January 13, delivered by Jamie\u2019s Ministry of Food Australia as part of South Burnett Council\u2019s Healthy Communities Initiative.<\/p>\n

The Mobile Kitchen program offers a five-week cooking course, comprising one 90-minute cooking class per week with up to 12 participants in each class.<\/p>\n

Jamie\u2019s Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen delivers hands-on classes six days a week.<\/p>\n

The Good Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which has partnered with Jamie Oliver and The Good Guys to deliver Jamie\u2019s Ministry of Food throughout Australia.<\/p>\n

Queensland Health has committed funding to The Good Foundation to support the delivery of the program in Queensland.<\/p>\n
