December 19, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\nFunds raised through the Mayor\u2019s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal have been distributed to primary producers and businesses affected by the floods of 2013.<\/p>\n
More than $51,500 in South Burnett Dollars (vouchers for businesses in the South Burnett) has been dispersed to affected primary producers and businesses.<\/p>\n
The next stage of funding is available to community groups to deliver projects which will provide community wide benefit.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis funding is to support projects that address community health and well-being, education, volunteer support, resilience and communication,\u201d South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n
\u201cProjects might include first aid or other training for a group of farmers in an area, a community event or something similar to the Bugger the Drought or Women\u2019s Pamper Days.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want existing community groups to apply so we can support our communities in the way that suits them. Each community is different and we want them to determine what will benefit their community. We will also be seeking applications from across the South Burnett, as the flood impact was widespread in our region.\u201d<\/p>\n
Funding will be available for up to $2000 per project, and community groups are encouraged to apply with applications for Round 1 closing on January 24.<\/p>\n
Mayor Kratzmann said flood appeal funding was also still available for eligible individuals and applications are welcome.<\/p>\n
