Is the “If you drink, don’t drive” message FINALLY getting through to South Burnett residents?<\/p>\n

Office-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> today that since December 1 more than 700 random breath tests have been conducted in the Kingaroy area with just one positive result.<\/p>\n

However the good news about drink-drivers is balanced by the number of motor vehicle accidents in the area which could have been avoided if drivers had been obeying the road rules.<\/p>\n

Since December 1, there have been 10 crashes, including two which resulted in injuries.<\/p>\n

“The majority of them could have been avoided,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

Poor driving – including failing to stop at a “stop sign”, failing to give way, speeding and following too close (tailgating) – were to blame for most of the incidents.<\/p>\n

“If drivers had been doing the right thing these incidents would have been avoided,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n
