A 27-year-old Kingaroy man appeared briefly in Kingaroy Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with attempted armed robbery following an incident at the McDonald’s Family Restaurant in Kingaroy last Monday.<\/p>\n

Police will allege that Benjamin Roy Clarke produced a large curved blade and threatened a female staff member at the store on December 9 but escaped with no money.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Barry Barrett remanded Clarke in custody to reappear by videolink in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on February 20 for committal mention.<\/p>\n

Duty solicitor Mark Werner, for Clarke, asked that a brief of evidence be supplied by the prosecution but said a “full brief” would not be required.<\/p>\n

Clarke, who was wearing black board shorts, a black T-shirt and had bare feet, was arrested on a return-to-prison warrant. <\/p>\n
