South Burnett tourism operators and small business owners have been invited to take part in a tourism industry “think tank” being organised by Southern Queensland Country Tourism (SQCT).<\/p>\n

The meeting will be held on Monday, February 10, in the South Burnett in conjunction with the regular Tourism Advisory Group (TAG) meeting.<\/p>\n

Attendees will have the opportunity to provide input into the 20-Year Destination Tourism Plan (DTP) for Southern Queensland Country.<\/p>\n

“This is your chance to have input into the development of our destination,” a Southern Queensland Country spokesman said.<\/p>\n

“Destination Tourism Planning is the next evolution of destination management and this is your opportunity to have input into the Southern Queensland Country DTP.<\/p>\n

“With the Queensland Government shifting the emphasis and decision-making for tourism to the destinations, each Regional Tourism Organisation needs to articulate a clear direction for tourism to its stakeholders.<\/p>\n

“The aim of the DTP is to provide the definitive direction for tourism in Southern Queensland Country towards 2020, highlighting the resources required to create a sustainable and competitive tourism destination.<\/p>\n

“A key feature of the DTP is that they are directly linked to the State (and National) targets to double the value of tourism, while recognising the local challenges and opportunities.<\/p>\n

“Each destination has its own unique experiences, tourism assets, development, marketing and management needs and therefore each needs its own clear direction. That is the role of the DTP.”<\/p>\n

The South Burnett has two representatives on the Board of SQCT: \u00a0Shannon Scott, from TASTE South Burnett and South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann.<\/p>\n
