Customer donations to the Royal Flying Doctor Service by regional Queenslanders\u2019 contributions through their Ergon Energy power bills has reached a total of $7.5 million.<\/p>\n

Every year Ergon customers voluntarily choose to support the RFDS; in the Wide Bay region, there are 20,604 customers in the donation scheme.<\/p>\n

Ergon chief executive Ian McLeod congratulated donors for their “inspirational demonstration of community spirit” towards a vital cause.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur customers have maintained an extraordinary level of generosity, which results in about $800,000 being raised each year,\u201d Mr McLeod said.<\/p>\n

\u201cErgon is committed to its community partnership with the RFDS by providing the means for customers to show their support, which is vital to keeping the Flying Doctor flying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Customers can contribute via regular donations through their quarterly bill, or make larger one-off donations if they wish.<\/p>\n

Since it launched in 2000, more than 100,000 customers have chosen to donate.<\/p>\n

\u201cErgon employees have also played a fantastic role in the fundraising effort via their payroll deductions,\u201d Mr McLeod said. \u201cWe\u2019re all very proud to continue to support the great work of the RFDS.\u201d<\/p>\n

RFDS Queensland Section CEO Nino Di Marco said donations raised through the Ergon Energy scheme were vital to the Flying Doctor being able to continue to deliver high quality and accessible health services throughout rural and remote Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the 91,000 patients the RFDS is able to help each year in Queensland, thank you Ergon Energy and your customers for your generosity,\u201d Mr Di Marco said.<\/p>\n
