More than 100 graduates from various TAFE courses – ranging from civil construction to remedial massage – were congratulated at a graduation ceremony held today at the Nurunderi campus at Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

Students were presented with Certificate IIs, IIIs and IVs as well as statements of attainment.<\/p>\n

Two students – Josephine Buckley and Tracey Eisenmenger – received Diplomas.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was led by Jacquie Henschen with special guest speaker, Institute Director Trevor Schwenke, also addressing students and their families.<\/p>\n

Ms Henschen paid tribute to the students and their teachers.<\/p>\n

“The Certificate IV and Diploma of Massage was delivered by Robyn Haynes who (campus director Santina Schmocker) affectionately labelled ‘the lady with the magic hands’,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Robyn has been teaching massage at this campus for 10 years. She has taught over 100 students and we can confidently say nearly all our past students are practising massage.<\/p>\n

“These participants are working in day spas, are self-employed, provide a mobile service, work in hairdressers as masseuses, and in chiropractors’ clinics.<\/p>\n

“All in all, a huge success.”<\/p>\n

Ms Henschen\u00a0noted that some of the students congratulated today could not be present at the ceremony as they had already found jobs.<\/p>\n

Special mention was also made of the MoJo (mobile journalist) project which was undertaken as a literacy project earlier this year. A short video about the project was screened.<\/p>\n

Mr\u00a0Schwenke told the students “this is your day”.<\/p>\n

“You know how hard you had to work to get that bit of paper,” he said.<\/p>\n

“But it doesn’t finish here today. The next chapter of your life starts today.”<\/p>\n

He encouraged to the students to embark on a journey of lifelong learning and to consider coming back to the college to complete more courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
