The State Government is calling for submissions on the\u00a0Regional Planning Interests Bill 2013 – which will replace the Strategic Cropping Land Act 2011.<\/p>\n

The new Bill, which was introduced into Parliament this week by Deputy Premier and Member for Callide Jeff Seeney, aims to manage the impacts of mining and other regulated activities in areas of regional interest that contribute, or are likely to contribute, to Queensland\u2019s economic, social and environmental prosperity.<\/p>\n

The State Government is preparing new regional plans to identify and protect areas of regional interest, ie priority agricultural areas, living areas and strategic environmental areas.<\/p>\n

The Bill also integrates the policy objectives of the\u00a0Strategic Cropping Land Act 2011\u00a0by identifying strategic cropping land as areas of regional interest.<\/p>\n

The State Development, Infrastructure and Industry Committee\u00a0\u00a0is inviting written submissions on the Bill from interested individuals and organisations.<\/p>\n

Submissions\u00a0close\u00a0at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 17, \u00a02014.<\/p>\n

Submissions may be made either by email<\/a><\/strong> or post to The Research Director, State Development, Infrastructure and Industry Committee, Parliament House, George Street, Brisbane, Qld, 4000<\/p>\n
