Explorer’s Restaurant at Kingaroy’s Burke & Wills Motor Inn will be holding a special five-course Degustation Dinner this Friday, November 29.<\/p>\n

It will be the second Degustation Dinner the restaurant has held this year after a successful test of the concept in early October during the South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show long weekend.<\/p>\n

Degustation is a French culinary term which means a careful, appreciative tasting of various foods focussing on the senses, high culinary art and good company.<\/p>\n

Degustation dinners are rare in the South Burnett but Burke & Wills manager Michael Quinn would like to make them a much more regular occurerence.<\/p>\n

“The South Burnett has many people who really appreciate good food and wine, and we have plenty of both right here on our doorstep,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Tourists travel hundreds of kilometres from Brisbane, Toowoomba and the coast to visit our wineries and cellar doors, and food produced in our region is shipped all over Australia.<\/p>\n

“We hope that our Degustation Dinners will help raise awareness of just how good the South Burnett really is and give locals a chance to see and experience what really draws tourists here.”<\/p>\n

The dinner will be prepared by Explorer Restaurant’s head chef Eddie McGregor, assisted by chef-in-training Troy Hudson.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each of the courses will be expertly matched to South Burnett wines and liqueurs from Kingsley Grove, Captains Paddock and Cranes Winery.<\/p>\n

The dinner will kick off with a glass of Kingsley Grove champagne on arrival, followed by a first course of House dukkah with lavender-infused olive oil, sweetened balsamic and crusty bread accompanied by a Captain’s Paddock Verdelho.<\/p>\n

The second course – salted Atlantic salmon with mango terrine – will be accompanied by a Captain’s Paddock Chardonnay; and this will be followed by herb marinated and seared lamb cutlets on a chive flat bread, matched to a Kingsley Grove 2006 Merlot, along with a kiwi fruit and Kingsley Grove champagne sorbet.<\/p>\n

The fourth course will be Peking Duck with a mandarin jus accompanied by pak choy and baby carrots, matched to a Crane Cabernet Shiraz.<\/p>\n

And this will be followed by a dessert of Peanut Affogato, washed down with a Crane Wines peanut liqueur.<\/p>\n

In addition to wonderful foods and wines, guitarist Julia Quinn will be providing live entertainment throughout the night.<\/p>\n
